American Red Cross of Central Texas looking for volunteers

People along the Texas Gulf Coast are bracing for Hurricane Harvey as it continues to gain strength. The American Red Cross of Central Texas is getting ready to help but they need volunteers.

Volunteers are need to work in the shelters and help those who have been evacuated. 

The Red Cross is also preparing to help those locally as heavy rains are expected and possible flooding could occur in our area.

The organization is offering trainings for new volunteers Friday, August 25. If you're interested you can choose from the following times of 10 AM, noon, 2 PM or 4 PM. The training is taking place at the Red Cross at 2218 Pershing Drive.

You only have to attend one of the hour long sessions. There are just for volunteers who want to help evacuees. 

Shelter manager training is also available for new volunteers with any leadership experience. That runs form 8 a.m. until noon at the AISD Performing Arts Center on Barbara Jordan Boulevard.
