APD apprehends 'Surgical Bandit' behind string of robberies

The 'Surgical Bandit' has been apprehended!

Police officers with the Austin Police Department were dispatched for a bank robbery at the Horizon Bank at 600 Congress Avenue around 2 p.m. on Friday, October 25. The suspect entered the bank wearing a white surgical mask, according to police.

He demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money. He was traveling westbound on Congress Avenue, according to police. 

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and a dark baseball cap. 

Officers saturated the area and were later able to apprehend the suspect at a nearby bus stop on Guadalupe Street.
