APD identifies man killed in Northeast Austin crash

The Austin Police Department has identified a man killed in a crash in Northeast Austin.

Jessie Jay Woosley, 23, was killed after police say he crashed his 2003 orange Chevrolet Avalanche pickup into a pole at the intersection of E. Parmer Lane and Dessau Road.

APD says the Avalanche was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when a 2019 white Hyundai Elantra turned left onto Dessau Road with a protected green turn signal. The Avalanche ran the red light and struck the Elantra.

The Avalanche then hit a metal pole on the southeast corner of the intersection. Woosley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Elantra were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
