APD: One dead after taking potentially lethal narcotic

One person has died at the hospital after taking a potentially lethal narcotic, says the Austin Police Department.

APD is warning the public about a potentially lethal batch of narcotics being sold in the Austin area. APD sent out a public safety alert Saturday stating that three overdose patients were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. One of the three has since died.

APD says the particular drug has various street names, including molly, X and ecstasy.

"Please remember that the use of illegal drugs is not safe and places the user's life in danger," APD said in the alert.
