APD searches for assault suspects
AUSTIN, Texas— The Austin Police Department is investigating two assault cases and sketches of two suspects, who they believe are behind the assault incidents, have been released.
Authorities said the incidents are being investigated as two separate cases until APD has reason to believe they are related.
The first suspect is tied to an assault on East 5th Street and Pedernales Street. The incident took place on Nov. 10 around 9:30 a.m. The suspect in this incident road off on a bicycle after assaulting the victim, according to APD.
Officials describe the first suspect as a Hispanic male in his early 20s,
- approximately 5 feet, 08 inches tall
- with short brown hair
The second suspect is believed to have been involved in a Nov. 30 assault incident that took place on the Hike and Bike Trail between Pedernales and Llano Streets at 11 a.m. During this incident, the suspect ran off on foot after the victim fought back, officials said.
The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, also in his early 20s,
- approximately 6 feet tall
- with short brown hair
Both cases remain under investigation by APD’s Sex Crimes Unit. Officials are asking for anyone with information to call 512-974-5230.
From APD: “Detectives do not have any other information to provide about the incidents at this time but want to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings when utilizing the public roads and Hike and Bike trails.”
