APD: Suspect could be involved in several Austin robberies

The Austin Police Department believes the same suspect who robbed a Wells Fargo in South Austin has also been behind robberies at convenience stores here in Austin.

According to police, a suspect robbed the Wells Fargo Bank off of West Slaughter Lane on Tuesday, December 17. The suspect entered the bank and presented a note demanding the money before fleeing on foot. No one was injured during this robbery. 

The Austin Police Department Robbery Unit is working with the FBI Central Texas Violent Crime Task Force to investigate that bank robbery.

 The same suspect is believed to be behind two separate robberies at convenience store robberies in South Austin.

The first robbery happened at the Valero in the 2100 block of Boca Raton Drive on Thursday, November 21 around 9:30 p.m. The other robbery happened at a Shell Food Mart in the 800 block of East William Cannon Drive around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4. 

The suspect is described as:

  • Black male
  • Mid 20s – Mid 30s
  • 5’11” – 6’ 00”
  • 160 pounds
  • Mustache
  • He was last seen wearing a black Spurs pullover, black beanie, black shorts

The suspect's vehicle is described as:

  • Black 2000s Mercedes Benz
  • 4 – Door Sedan
  • Oval headlights

It is possible the suspect is from the San Antonio area.

A robbery detective with the Austin Police Department is expected to give a briefing on the suspect at 2 p.m.
