Around town weekend events with FOX 7 (December 20 - 22)

Winter officially begins on Saturday, December 21 and it is the last weekend before Christmas! There are still some places to shop if you're looking for some last-minute gifts and some other fun things to do around town.

Austin Trail of Lights | December 10 - 23

It's that time of year when Zilker Park is lit up for the holidays. There are plenty of new exhibits as well as some twists on old favorites at this year's Trail of Lights. Some of the exhibits this year are also interactive. The Trail of Lights is one of Austin's most celebrated holiday traditions with 2019 marking its 55th return. With the mix of cold weather, music, food and, of course, the lights, attendees say it's a great way to get into the holiday spirit. The Trail of Lights will be open for the next two weeks and admission is free half that time. This year they are expecting half a million people to walk the trail.

Minor Mishap’s Winter Solstice Lantern Parade | December 21 & 22

Minor Mishap’s Winter Solstice Lantern Parade is an annual event that celebrates the winter solstice. Join the community to celebrate winter by bringing your own flameless lantern and enjoy the Minor Mishap's 25-piece brass marching band. This year there will be two separate parades, the first parade will take place Saturday at Mueller Lake Park and the second will start at the Austin Central Library.  Both Parades start at 5:30 p.m. and the live music will begin around 6 p.m.

Holiday Sweater Party with Austin Eastciders | December 21

Easy Tiger is teaming up with Austin Eastciders to host an ugly Christmas sweater party! Enjoy your favorite local ciders while listening to live music and exploring the Packed Party pop-up shop. There will also be a tacky sweater contest and you can bring any unused coat for the party's winter coat drive. The party begins Saturday at Easy Tiger's LINC location at 5 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m.
