Attorney General Jeff Sessions to speak in Austin

Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be in Austin Friday to talk about plans to enforce President Trump's immigration priorities.
This will be the first time Sessions will be in Austin since he became attorney general. Sessions will speak at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas. He's expected to address Trump's immigration policies.
During the last legislative session, an anti-sanctuary cities bill passed. It allows police to ask people about their immigration status during a routine traffic stop. The law also puts local sheriffs at risk for jail time for not cooperating with federal immigration officials.
Sessions has threatened to take away federal funding from so-called sanctuary cities. Last month, the Trump administration called it quits on the "DACA" program, which will affect many here locally.
Sessions is expected to start speaking at 11:20 a.m.
