A local bartender has been selected as one of five bartenders in the country to travel to Scotland as part of a national cocktail competition.

The Roosevelt Room's Tacy Rowland was the winner of "The Modern Classics" which is a collaboration between the company Drambuie and Chilled Magazine. The event was held on November 15 at Firehouse Lounge in downtown Austin.

Five other local bartenders were also in the competition: Jeramy Campbell from Geraldine's, Brett Esler with Whisler's, Michael Childress with Stella San Jac and Leonard Oliver from Kung Fu Saloon.

The competition involved each bartender making two cocktails using Drambuie. Rowland won first place with her drinks The Drambuie Flip and Welcome Punch.

Rowland will now travel to Scotland to go on a trip that retraces the history of the 200 year old company Drambuie which is expected to go from the Isle of Skye to Edinburgh.
