Austin City Council runoff elections

A runoff election for three Austin City Council races was held Tuesday for Districts 1, 3 and 8. 

District 1 is the seat vacated by Ora Houston. The runoff was between Mariana Salazar and Natasha Harper-Madison with Harper-Madison taking 72% of the vote and Salazar receiving 28.

District 3's runoff was between a brother and sister, incumbent Sabino "Pio" Renteria and Susana Almanza. Renteria kept his seat  winning 64% of the vote with Almanza receiving 36%.

District 8 is the seat vacated by Ellen Troxclair. The race was between Paige Ellis and Frank Ward and Ellis won with 56% of the vote to Ward's 44%.

New council members will be sworn in at City Hall on Jan. 7.
