Austin Water lowers rates for residential, commercial customers

Residential and commercial customers of Austin Water can expect to see a reduction to their bills. 

The Austin City Council voted Thursday, March 8, 2018 to approve a mid-year water and wastewater rate decrease, The average residential customer will see a $2.40 reduction to their monthly bill. 

According to a press release sent out by Austin Water, all of Austin Water can expect the rate decreases to take effect May 1, 2018. This includes residential, multifamily, commercial and large volume customers.

Earlier this year, FOX 7's Bridget Spencer reported that residential water customers were complaining of abnormally high water bills. After an investigation into the complaints, the City of Austin found problems in the way that some customers were assessed for water in August and September 2017.
