Woman, killer identified in murder-suicide at downtown Houston hotel lobby
HOUSTON - The woman who was shot and killed inside a hotel lobby in downtown Houston and the killer who turned the gun on himself have been identified.
The Medical Examiners Office identified them as Jenna Soderberg, 27, and Sherrick Byrd, 39.
Their cause of death is a gunshot wound to the head.
Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner said during a news conference Tuesday afternoon that officers responded to a ‘shots fired’ call at the Marriott Marquis, just after 3:30 p.m.

Finner said when officers arrived, they found two people dead inside the hotel lobby.
According to police, witnesses stated that a 39-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, who were in a dating relationship, arrived at the hotel together.
Shortly after, police said, witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and then saw the male suspect shoot himself.

Police said the shooting is believed to be a murder-suicide and no other suspects are believed to be involved.
