Autopsy to determine Granger woman's Death
Crime scene tape that once closed off East Fox St. in Granger is now gone. Questions, still remain. Ruth Thompson lives across the street from the house where a woman’s body was found Tuesday night by the woman’s son.
Thompson says the house recently went up for sale after the woman and her husband both became ill. Thompson said they’ve been good neighbors.
“Yes, they kept to themselves minding their own business.”
Names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Granger is a town where parts of the downtown street are still paved with bricks. The investigation has got a lot of people talking. According to police chief Bob Shelton, the last murder in Granger happened back in the 1930’s.
Tuesday night around 7:30 pm, police were sent to the house after receiving a check welfare cardiac arrest call. The case was later handed over to investigators with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
“There is no suspect in custody, but at the same time, there is no public at risk,” said Sheriff Robert Chody.
It appears the woman had been dead for several days.
“All I can say is there is evidence to indicate that we want to title this as a suspicious death at this moment, we can elevate that or deescalate that at a later time, until we have further evidence,” said Sheriff Chody.
The death will remain classified as suspicious until the results of the autopsy are reviewed by investigators.
