Barton Creek Greenbelt closed due to weather related safety concerns

Due to the heavy rainfall Austin’s received in the past two weeks, and with additional rain expected for the next several days, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department has made the decision to close the Barton Creek Greenbelt at 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

This decision was made due to trail conditions and high flowing water from upstream dam releases that are resulting in safety concerns for our patrons. When you see a barrier or a sign stating the greenbelt is closed, please obey the sign and DO NOT go onto the closed trails.

The closure of the trails will be re-evaluated by the Park Rangers on a regular basis and a determination will be made on when they can be re-opened.
