Bastrop police searching for man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a woman
BASTROP, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Bastrop Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a woman Tuesday.
According to police around 6:33 p.m. an unidentified man was reportedly going door to door in the 1200 block of Wilson Street asking people if he could come inside and pray.
He was turned away by several apartment residents before finding an unlocked apartment where police say he entered and physically assaulted a woman in an attempt to sexually assault her.
Police describe the suspect as being a black man, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and carrying what appeared to be a black book in his hand.
Officers are increasing patrols in the area and are asking the public to report any suspicious activity to 911.
Officials say the victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.
