A recall was issued for 13,400 above-ground pools that may pose a drowning hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated in a Dec. 18 recall notice.
Blue Wave recalled the pools because they contain a compression strap that wraps around the pool on the outside of the vertical support poles, and CPSC officials explain that this may create a foothold, allowing children to access the pool and drown. The CPSC added that children can still access the pools using these footholds even if the ladder is removed.
