Body found in Lake Travis identified as Rachel Scott, who has been missing since May

The Travis County Sheriff's Office has identified a body recovered in Lake Travis Friday morning as Rachel Scott, who has been missing since May. 

Scott went missing on Lake Travis on May 19, 2018. Friends reported that she fell from the top tier of a party barge and hit her head before falling into the water. Several people attempted to rescue her but were unsuccessful. 

Dive teams searched for Scott in the days that followed and throughout the summer. On October 4, a body was found in the area where Scott was last seen. She was recovered the following day.

The cause and manner of her death are pending a final report. 

The Scott family released the following statement:
