Celebrating freedom in Austin throughout the years

Austinites who have been around for more than a decade may remember "Freedom Fest."

The event was held in Zilker Park for the Fourth of July for several years.

But one year in particular was especially memorable - as it was a time when troops were coming back from the Gulf War.

And the legendary Texas Governor Ann Richards joined an orchestra for a stirring performance of "Lincoln's Portrait."
