Chimene Onyeri threatened to kill judge two weeks before shooting
New developments regarding the investigation in the attempted murder of Travis County judge Julie Kocurek.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 7, authorities in Austin were tipped off about the November assassination attempt 2 weeks before the judge was shot.
Chimene Onyeri, according to a Harris County Search Warrant, was overheard talking about a plan to kill a Travis County judge in October.
An investigator with the Travis County District Attorney's Office claims he was told about the plot by an informant who had called him.
The informant said she could not provide the name of the judge who was being targeted, and the investigator claims he was unable able to match Onyeri's name to any pending court cases in Austin. However, court records found by FOX 7 show that Judge Kocurek was in the process of revoking his bond.
In a statement released by Bill Rhea on behalf of the family, Kocurek's family says Kocurek intends to return to the bench and to run for reelection.
