Clown threat hoax reached Central Texas schools

Four Central Texas School Districts are reporting threats made by people dressed as clowns on social media.

Austin ISD says the threats were made toward Reagan and Travis Early College High Schools, and Martin Middle School; in Hays ISD, the threat was reported to be happening at Lehman High School; Del Valle ISD sent a letter to parents home saying the threat there was reported at Del Valle High School; and in Manor ISD at Manor high school.

School officials in each of the district’s say law enforcement investigated the threats and none turned out to be credible. Officials at Austin ISD, Del Valle, Hays ISD, and Manor ISD  say they will continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to call them.

The threats at the Central Texas schools come on the heels of “creepy clown” threats reportedly made at two Waco High Schools on Thursday.

In nine other states in the U.S., clowns have threatened or attacked people since the summer.
