Cowgirls for Cajuns raising money for Lousiana

The damage in Louisiana was even more evident today as floodwaters continue to recede. The water damaged tens of thousands of homes and we are learning about more and more volunteers from Texas who are stepping in to help with clean up.

But for one group the ties run much deeper than just the idea of lending a hand.

The Cowgirls for Cajuns are Louisiana natives who now call Dripping Springs, Texas their home. They are raising money for supplies and are in contact with locals in Louisiana to find out what exactly is needed.

So far, they are trying to gather items for the clean-up including breathing masks, gloves, and wipes.

They are also collecting personal items to hand out too.

"You've got Soul, Louisiana, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Zachary, Louisiana.. Plus a bunch of folks from Dripping Springs, and Fredericksburg and Austin helping here today. We're collecting items and plus we've started a go fund me page to collect donations. We are really working at a fast pace because the victims there need assistance," said Ashley Loftus of the Cowgirls for Cajuns.

They are planning to send their first truck to Louisiana on Wednesday.
