Customers at conducting driver license transactions within the state of Texas can now make a monetary donation to the sexual assault evidence testing program.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, customers applying for or renewing a driver license, identification card, or a commercial driver license can donate a dollar or more during their transactions in person or online.
All funds collected will go to the Sexual Assault Evidence Testing Grant program. The program is a result of House Bill 1729, which passed into state law during the 85th Texas Legislative Session.
Since the program began on January 8, DPS has received nearly $25,000 in donations.
