Deadly crash on southbound I-35

A deadly auto-pedestrian crash in South Austin on I-35 forced traffic to be backed up near Onion Creek Parkway for hours.

All lanes of southbound I-35 were closed for more than two hours after a pedestrian was struck on the interstate just before 6 a.m.

The incident happened near the 12000 block of I-35.

Austin police say the male pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. It's not clear if he was trying to cross or was intentionally standing on the freeway.
