Police are working to determine who shot a dog twice in Henry County.

Henry County Animal Control said a sweet and gentle, older male Beagle-mix was picked up on Monday in the Kimbell Farm subdivision, which is located off of Coan Drive in Locust Grove.

They are calling him “Tugboat.” He was found suffering from two gunshot wounds, according to animal control officials.

He’s being carefully monitored at the Henry County Humane Society and Animal Control after they said he was treated at the Henry County Veterinary Hospital for his wounds.

We’ve learned the dog is running around and playful. He appears to be doing well, but needs to heal from his wounds.

Animal Control told News Radio 106.7’s Nathalie Pozo that police are searching for the dog’s owner. They are trying to find out if the dog has an owner and why he was shot. They said Tugboat may be put up for adoption.

If you know who Tugboat belongs to or have any information on the dog, please call Animal Control at 770-288-7387.
