Father charged after 6-year-old boy hospitalized with severe head injuries in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Authorities are investigating the alleged abuse of a 6-year-old boy who was brought to the hospital with severe head injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The boy's biological father was charged with child abuse.
Investigators responded to the hospital where the boy was being treated on March 17, after receiving reports about the boy's injuries. Due to the extent of the child's injuries, Special Victims Bureau detectives took over the investigation, which led to the arrest of 27-year-old Wendell Travon Martin.
On Tuesday, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office charged Martin with one felony count of assault on a child becoming comatose/paralyzed.
Martin remains in custody on a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Torrance Superior Court on April 18, according to a press release.
