Father of man knocked unconscious outside bar, asks for help finding suspect

March 10 started out like any night out for Peyton Pyle, his cousin, and friends.

They were on their way to "The Hive" bar in San Marcos.

“He spent the day and that evening with her, her friend and one of his friends went with him so there were four in that group,” said Barry Pyle, Peyton’s father.

In surveillance video released by the San Marcos Police Department, at the top of the screen, you see Peyton putting his arm around another friend in their group...but if you look closely you see a man with a hat, slightly bump into them. At that point it looks like the victim reaches to the man's ear, and then the man punches Pyle to the ground.  His father, is still troubled by the video.

“I truly can't imagine anything much more difficult than watching your son sucker punched and knocked out and being on the ground on the pavement motionless,” said Pyle.

Peyton’s dad says he spoke to friends from that night, who told him they didn't know the other people, and nothing was said or done to warrant an attack like this. The 23-year old Texas State grad's injuries are severe, which include hearing loss in his right ear.

“[There was] head trauma, swelling of the brain, and speech challenges. The week in the hospital when he was going through aphasia which is the inability to speak intelligently or string sentences together, that was really difficult,” said Pyle.

“We are asking for the public's assistance in locating the individual in that video,” said Commander Kelly Bomersbach, with the San Marcos Police Department.

Peyton Piles’ family says somebody must know someone in this video.

“I want this individual caught, I want him brought to justice,” said Barry Pyle.

The public is asked to contact San Marcos police detective P. Aubry at paubry@sanmarcostx.gov or call (512) 753-2108 with any information.
