February 1 last day to register to vote for Travis County primary election

Travis County election officials are reminding people that if you want to vote in the March 1 primary election and help decide who will be the presidential and local candidates in the November general election you must register by midnight February 1.

Early voting for the primary election begins February 16.

Officials say you need to make sure that the Travis County Tax Office's Registration Division has your correct home address and name. You can check your voter registration status here.

If you need to update your home address or name, you can go here and simply put "voter" into the search engine.

Officials say many new voters requested postage paid voter applications but some have failed to mail those applications back.

Voters also can come to any of the five tax office locations to fill out a voter registration application. The main Travis County Tax Office, 5501 Airport Blvd., will stay open until midnight February 1 to accept voter registration applications.

if you miss the deadline for the primary election you will be processed and be eligible to vote in the general election on November 8.
