Long lines for COVID-19 testing at The Long Center

Experts say there's a potential surge of the Omicron COVID-19 variant and that's led more people in Austin to go get tested. FOX 7 Austin's Kelly Saberi has a look from the pop-up testing site at The Long Center.

The Long Center is teaming up with Nomi Health to offer free drive-up COVID-19 testing for Austin residents before gatherings take place for New Year celebrations. Originally scheduled to end on December 28, officials have extended the pop-up testing site until December 31.

Testing began December 27 and will now continue Dec. 28-31 between the hours of 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Nomi Health says it will more than double its testing staff at The Long Center as the demand for testing continues to surge.
