Georgetown Police find body of missing boater

UPDATE: The body of a male in his mid 30's has been recovered by emergency crews.

Divers recovered the body approximately 25 yards from shore in about 15 feet of water. The body appears to be that of the reported missing boater. The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of all next of kin.

The investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.

The Georgetown Police Department is searching for a reported missing boater. 

On Saturday before 6 p.m., emergency personnel from the City of Georgetown responded to Jim Hogg Park at Lake Georgetown for a reported missing boater. It was reported that a small boat overturned with two people on it and one of the two is still missing in the water.

Emergency crews are currently searching for the missing person.
