Giving Tuesday
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over and the focus now turns to Giving Tuesday. The day was established in 2012 with a goal to help the less fortunate. The hope is to balance the commercialism of the holidays with a day of altruism.
Organizers say it’s a chance for many of us to take time and reflect on what we’re thankful for, help a neighbor or support a good cause.
Eileen Heisman with the National Philanthropic Trust says, “You can do any act of kindness. You can clean up trash at a local park. You can help somebody who needs help doing something. If you are going by somebody who is asking for money, there's the Salvation Army that asks for money in front of stores, you can do that. But you can go online. Go to networkforgood.com it's a great site where you can give money."
