High school football teams helping out Wimberley residents

Teams from all over the state are spending part of their summer helping out the residents of Wimberley.

Wimberley Texans head coach Doug Warren snapped a photo showing around 500 athletes, parents and coaches going through safety training June 9 before being sent to different areas of town. One area the Wimberley High School football players shoveled tile at was at the severely damaged 7A Resort.

Coach Warren says coaches from all over Texas had been asking him what they could do to help and that led to the Caring Beyond Competition event. Warren says about 25 schools from the Waco-area to the San Antonio-area and near Houston came to help.

The Wimberley Volunteer Resource Center says there's still a lot of work to be done and they still need volunteers. You can get more information here.
