House fire in North Austin
A firefighter suffered minor injuries battling a house fire in North Austin. Eight people inside the home were able to make it out safely.
The fire started just before 5 a.m. in the 2200 block of Blalock.
When firefighters arrived they reported heavy fire showing from the garage. They were able to contain the fire to the garage and put it out quickly.
The eight people who lived in the home, including four children, got out unharmed thanks to a working smoke alarm.
Officials say the garage and attic sustained some damage. No word yet on how much damages will cost and what started the fire.
The firefighter that was hurt was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
