Husband and wife judges provide free wedding ceremonies on Valentine’s Day

Since 1989, Judge Jan Breland and her husband, Judge John Lipscombe have been marrying couples for free on Valentine's Day.

Lipscombe said he's done several hundred weddings and while his wife has done well over 6,000.

“We want to give something back to the community. It's our favorite day, we get so much out of it. It's a lot of joy,” said Lipscombe.

Seeing all that love has even made this judge duo's relationship stronger. "When you’re standing up front, you can see into the eyes of each of the people who are getting married, and it's just something. You can see the look of love there. It renews, and refreshes regenerates your own love for your spouse,” said Lipscombe.

Lipscombe said he will do two more valentine's days before he retires.

“After that, some other judge may take it up, I hope they do it for free,” said Lipscombe.
