I-35 reopens after being shut down for hours due to crash

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 near William Cannon are back open after they were shut down for several hours due to a crash.

It all started when an 18-wheeler crashed and caused a chain reaction of several other vehicles including another semi truck to crash.

The trucks and vehicles sent debris scattering across the highway as well as spilling dozens of gallons of gas and oil all over the place.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was pinned in the cabin but rescue crews were able to free him. He is now at the hospital with serious injuries.

It took crews about three hours to clean up and clear the area. Traffic in both directions was rerouted on the frontage roads. Backups and delays are still expected for some time as traffic gets back to normal.
