King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit the United States next week to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. Buckingham Palace says the four-day trip will take the royal couple to Washington, D.C., New York, and Virginia.

The King and Queen’s visit will begin Monday, April 27 in Washington, D.C. with events marking the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom as America approaches its 250th anniversary on July 4.

King Charles III to address a joint session of Congress 

On Tuesday, April 28, King Charles is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress followed by a state dinner at the White House.

The couple will then travel to New York City and meet with families of 9/11 victims ahead of the 25th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center.

Following their visit to New York City, Buckingham Palace says they will make a stop in Virginia, where King Charles III is expected to meet with members of an Indigenous community and conservation groups at a national park while Queen Camilla will visit a farm connected to the horse racing industry. The pair will also attend a public celebration tied to the nation’s upcoming anniversary.

After the visit to the U.S., King Charles will travel to Bermuda on May 1.
