Lake Travis High School officials investigating student incident

Parents at Lake Travis High School say they feel left in the dark after receiving an email from the district Wednesday about an student incident without much information.

Lake Travis ISD Director of Communications Marco Alvarado said they were notified about the incident Friday and did not disclose the nature of the incident. Alvarado said it had nothing to do with staff and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

Barbara Butler a parent at Lake Travis High said she understands it’s an active investigation but feels parents should be given more information.

“I’m really angry that they didn’t inform us on Friday when the incident happened especially since that shooting that just occurred in Florida,” Butler said.

Barbara Onsted a grandmother of a student who attends the school was upset the email came after a few days.

“I was disappointed on that email that I didn’t receive more information about what was happening at the time and that I got it later,” said Onsted.

Alvarado said he’s received multiple calls from parents asking what happened and understands parent’s anxiousness. He’s asking for patience as school officials and local law enforcement investigates.
