Man charged in deaths of 6 children appears in court

The mass murder suspect accused of shooting a family of eight including his ex and his own child, stood before a judge for his first appearance. David Conley showed no emotion as he walked into the courtroom. He’s charged with multiple counts of capital murder.

Investigators say he handcuffed then shot his ex, 40-year-old Valerie Jackson, her husband 50-year-old Dwayne Jackson and her six young children between the ages of six and 13 years old.

The oldest child was his Conley's own son. It was Jackson’s mother who called 9-1-1 after getting a text from her daughter that she was being held at gunpoint. Prosecutors would not delve into a possible motive but say Conley had a history of domestic violence. Even for those who thought they've seen it all, this massacre, hits a new low.

Aldine Independent School District released the following statement on Monday afternoon:

The district was notified of the deaths of six of our students over the weekend who were the victims of a horrific crime. The students attended Shotwell Middle School, Hill Intermediate School and Sammons Elementary School.

Our community mourns their passing and our thoughts and prayers are with their family and loved ones.

Counselors will be available to students and staff to assist them during this difficult time as everyone returns for the beginning of the school year.
