Man suffers life-threatening injuries in East Austin house fire

AUSTIN, Texas (Fox 7 Austin) - A man is fighting for his life after his house caught on fire in East Austin.

The Austin Fire Department says the man was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Four other people have been displaced due to the fire.

The fire was reported at around 2:45 a.m. at the home off of Hamilton Avenue. It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire.

Officials say there is significant smoke damage throughout the house. The fire was able to be contained and did not spread.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
