Fire crews are working to containing a brush fire in Manchaca Saturday afternoon.

The Austin Fire Department said via Twitter that fire dispatch received multiple smoke odor calls due to a "large brush fire at I-35 and Onion Creek". They are asking the public to refrain from calling 911 "unless you see fire or have smoke or smoke odor inside structure."

The fire has grown to approximately 50 acres around 4:30 p.m. and AFD says it is burning in uninhabited land along Onion Creek. STAR Flight is assisting with aerial drops.

AFD says the fire was a second alarm fire as of 5:50 p.m.

AFD says no structures are threatened at this point.
