Microsoft says issue impacting several services has been restored after thousands reported outage

Thousands of users reported issues with Microsoft Outlook and Teams on Thursday, according to Downdetector.
What we know:
Microsoft acknowledged it was investigating a "potential issue" that impacting "multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview" earlier on Thursday, but has since said it has resolved the problem.
What they're saying:
"While we've restored the affected infrastructure to a heathy state, further load balancing is required to mitigate impact. We're directing traffic to alternate infrastructure to achieve recovery," Microsoft said on X.
What we don't know:
Microsoft did not share what caused the issue as of this report.
