Multiple road closures and water rescues due to storm

Parts of the Austin area got more than five inches of rain last night and it led to many road closures and water rescues.

Earlier in the morning, FOX 7 Austin was in South Austin at a spillway where it could be seen how much it had rained and how much water was left behind.

One specific incident both the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to was at 7:30 p.m. off of North Bluff Drive.

All people were safe and accounted for and officials later clarified that the child was actually 40-year-old man. The man was homeless and he had fled the scene after being rescued by Austin police. He was the only person found in the water, officials say. The rest of the people were at a camp along the creek.
