NadaMoo! recalls select pints of Strawberry Cheesecake due to undeclared almond
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Little Red Rooster Ice Cream Company, also known as NadaMoo!, has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 26,000 pints of its Strawberry Cheesecake non-dairy frozen dessert because of an undeclared almond ingredient.
Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The pints were distributed to select distributors and retailers beginning Feb. 19, and have a "Best Buy" date of 08/09/2020 printed on the bottom. The pints will also have a UPC code of 854758001020 listed below the barcode.
No consumers have reported an allergic reaction to date and no other products or flavors have been recalled. Pints of Strawberry Cheesecake not labeled with the expiration date or UPC code above are not affected by the recall.
The recall was reportedly initiated after it was discovered that the pie crust inclusions containing almond flour as an ingredient were inadvertently filled into packaging that did not declare the ingredient.
The following Austin-area groceries have been named in the recall as possibly having received pints of the recalled product: Wheatsville Food Co-op, Hyde Park Market, The Austinite, Duval Market, Bread Basket at Manchaca, Thom's Market at Barton Springs and Spyglass, Sprouts, and Kins Market.
For more information on the recall, see the recall notice on the Food and Drug Administration's website.
