Over 4,300 pounds of chicken noodle soup imported from Canada to US recalled due to inspection issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.
WASHINGTON - BCI Foods Inc. is recalling about 4,300 pounds of canned chicken noodle soup after federal officials determined the product was imported from Canada without undergoing the required U.S. import reinspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall involves 10.5-ounce cans of "tasty KITCHEN Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup PRODUCT OF CANADA" produced on Feb. 4, 2026.
The affected cans carry a best-by date of February, 04, 2028 and lot code 5 9 2 26 035.

The recalled product also bears the Canadian establishment number "EST. 142" printed on the can.
According to the notice, the recalled soup was distributed to food banks and food pantry locations in Oklahoma.
No illnesses or injuries reported
The backstory:
The agency said the issue came to light after BCI Foods, the importer of record based in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, notified FSIS that the shipment had not been presented for the agency's required import reinspection before entering U.S. commerce.

The FSIS said it is concerned that some of the recalled soup may still be in consumers' pantries. The agency advises consumers not to eat the product and instead discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
FSIS said it will conduct recall effectiveness checks to ensure customers have been notified and that the product has been removed from distribution. Retail distribution lists, when available, will be posted on the FSIS recall website.
