Person killed after being hit by train near downtown Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - One person is dead after being hit by a train near downtown Austin.

The incident happened in the 100 block of West 3rd Street near North Lamar at around 12:45 a.m.

Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash and found the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say it's not clear which railroad provider was involved.
