Police search for suspect in fatal auto vs. pedestrian crash

Austin police are searching for the suspect in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that happened Tuesday, Oct. 10 at about 4:28 p.m.
The Austin Police Department says 27-year-old Fernando Lazcano Sarabia was driving a gold 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe when he struck 77-year-old Linda Kay Fletcher who had just gotten out of her car. Police say the initial investigation shows Sarabia was traveling eastbound on Parkfield Drive at a high speed when he lost control, hitting and killing Fletcher.
Sarabia failed to stop and render aid. He fled the scene southbound on Parkfield Drive, police say.
The suspect is described by police as a Hispanic male. His car description is a gold 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with right front collision damage and a TX license plate: GSX3645.
The investigation is still pending and information is subject to change police say. APD is asking anyone with information to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-5789.
