Police: Speeding driver had cocaine in lap
DALLAS, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - One driver learned the hard way not to speed through Cobb County after he was arrested after being pulled over.
The Cobb County Police Department said an officer stopped a vehicle driven by Darien Knight on Dallas Highway near East Paulding Drive for speeding at around 12:30 early Tuesday morning. According to officials, Knight was going 91 mph in a 45 mph zone - over twice the speed limit.
When officers approached the vehicle, they say they noticed "cocaine in the driver's lap," police said.
After the driver was removed, the passenger in the car, identified by police as Ian Copeland, told officers he had had drugs on his person.
A search of the vehicle led police to discover, $1,544 in cash, 149.3g of marijuana, 323.8g of psilocybin
1.2g of cocaine, 2.5g of methamphetamine, 386 THC oil vape cartridges, a gun with a magazine, a machete, and a digital scale.
Both the Knight and Copeland were arrested.
