Prosecutor: Video shows man staging office injury

A New Jersey man faked a workplace injury and now faces criminal charges, thanks to security camera video of the incident, authorities said.

Authorities charged Alexander Goldinsky, 57, of Randolph, with third-degree insurance fraud and third-degree theft by deception.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office released video from inside an office in Woodbridge that shows a man tossing ice on the floor of the break room, getting down on the floor, and then waiting until someone found him, authorities said.

Late last year, Goldinsky, an independent contractor, filed an insurance claim for an injury he said happened when he slipped inside that Woodbridge business, where he was working.

"Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system," County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said in a statement.

Authorities arrested Goldinsky on Jan. 15. He was released on a summons and ordered to appear in court on Feb. 7.
