The Rolling Stones have postponed their North American tour due to an unspecified illness of singer Mick Jagger, ending plans for a concert at the Rose Bowl on May 11.

The announcement was made on Saturday. A statement released by the band read:

"Mick Jagger has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible."

Jagger, who is 75 years old, added:

"I hate letting our fans down and I'm hugely disappointed to have to postpone the tour but am looking forward to getting back on stage as soon as I can."

Ticketmaster advises those who purchased concert tickets for the Rose Bowl to hold on to them because a new date will eventually be announced.
