San Marcos murder suspect turns himself in

23-year-old An-drew Stephen Jones, the suspect wanted for the fatal shooting at the Uptown Square Apartments, is being held at the Hays County Jail. 

Jones surrendered himself at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9. He has a suggested bond of $250,000. 23-year-old Andrew Stephen Jones is a suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Nicholas Devone White of Manvel.

According to the San Marcos Police Department, police officers were dispatched to the Uptown Square apartment complex in the 1300 block of Thorpe Lane around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5 for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located a victim - Nicholas Devone White - who had been shot in the parking lot for the complex. 

White was transported to Seton Hays Medical Center where he died from his injuries.  

During the course of their investigation, detectives spoek with a witness who stated that he was meeting White at the apartment complex to buy drugs. While at the complex, White and the witness were confronted by the suspect who produced a handgun and shot White. 

He then fled to the silver SUV and left the scene.

Using the vehicle description and surveillance video from the entrance and exits of the apartment complex, detectives were able to obtain a license plate that led to the suspect, An-drew Stephen Jones.
