Satellite images show more NKorea preps for rocket launch
WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. website says that North Korea appears to have brought in fuel in preparation for a rocket launch it plans to conduct in defiance of international sanctions this month.
The North Korea-focused website is 38 North. It says commercial satellite imagery from Wednesday and Thursday shows tanker trucks at the launch pad, likely to fill fuel and oxidizer tanks.
That doesn't mean the North has starting filling a rocket with fuel, but is probably a preparatory step. It says that in the past, that has happened one to two weeks before blastoff. It is not yet clear if a rocket is on the launch pad.
Less than a month after conducting a nuclear test, North Korea announced this week it plans to launch an Earth observation satellite between Feb. 8 and 25.
